COMPARISON · UPDATED JULY 2026

Odoo vs Dynamics 365 Business Central vs NetSuite – for 10–100-person companies

By the Impromatrix consulting team – Odoo since 2020, ERP since 2011

We implement Odoo, so read us with that in mind – but we've replaced and lost against both competitors, and each wins real deals for real reasons. Here's the comparison we'd want as a buyer.

When does Business Central beat Odoo?

When the company lives in Microsoft 365 and finance runs the project. BC's accounting depth, Excel/Power BI integration and enormous partner network are real advantages; if your processes are standard trade and your accountants know Dynamics, it's a safe, good choice. You pay for it in licences, forever.

When does NetSuite beat Odoo?

Multi-entity consolidation, revenue recognition, US GAAP/IFRS reporting for investors – NetSuite's financial core is built for exactly that. If you're a venture-backed group heading past 100 employees with a CFO who reports to a board quarterly, it earns its price. A 30-person distributor rarely gets that value back.

Where does Odoo win?

Breadth per euro. One system covers CRM, sales, inventory, manufacturing, accounting, website – areas where the others need add-ons – and Community edition removes per-user fees entirely. Open source means any Python developer can extend it and your exit costs are a database export, not a contract negotiation. The flip side: quality depends on your implementation partner more than on the vendor.

How should we actually decide?

Model five-year total cost (licences × realistic headcount growth + implementation + support), then make the shortlist demo your three most painful processes with your data. Weight the demo over the feature matrix – every vendor ticks every box on paper. We run this as a vendor-neutral engagement, and yes, we sometimes recommend against Odoo. ERP selection consulting →
